Jericho and the Mount of Temptation

Such a beautiful day!

I'll admit I wasn't feeling quite excited on the bus ride or at Herod's palace, but once we drove through Jericho I got so happy. It's such a beautiful town and I loved everything about it. Plus looking at the layers of brick and archeology surrounding the Tel was really interesting.

The Mount of Temptation was probably my favorite though. It was such an eye-opener to look down on the road from Jericho to Jerusalem and think about the Good Samaritan. There are tons of caves and stuff where robbers could easily hide.

And there's this amazing monastery named after St. George built into the side of the wall.

I loved looking up at the sky--it was so so blue against the whitish Judaean hills and we had a full 360 degree view from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea to Jericho.

Anyway more exciting things to come! We leave for Egypt in less than a week!
