Cities to Visit in Italy

If anyone knows me at all, they know that I'm in love with Italy. From the first time I went there when I was 19 to the latest trip I had there last year at 31, Italy has a big piece of my heart. There's a reason Italy's nickname is "The Beautiful Place" — because it really is! Everything about Italy is so fun; the food is incredible, the people are friendly and fun, and the whole country is so well connected that it's fun to explore all over. Let's talk about O'AHU. Home to Honolulu and some of the best parts of the Polynesia. Gorgeous place, probably the best island in the Hawaii chain. Maybe even the world. 👶 So You're Having a Baby...

A lot of my friends have been having babies lately and it's so exciting! I love babies and I love parenthood. I still have a lot to learn for sure, so don't worry this post isn't exhaustive. Also, as a disclaimer, these are just my opinions so you should check with your healthcare provider before you make decisions about your health and/or pregnancy. The things I'm sharing in this post are products/ideas that really helped me when I was a first-time mom and I've really treasured this info for the past few years. Before I had my first baby, I was very blessed to work for Sera Prognostics (a women's pregnancy diagnostic company) where I learned a ton about pregnancy, birth, and more. Best of Italy: Venice

Venice is one of my favorite places in Italy. Before I went there for the first time, I thought to myself: Well, this definitely isn't going to live up to the hype. I had seen Venice in movies, pictures, and heard it was gorgeous. So I thought I knew it just wasn't going to be as good as everyone said. But then. I went. Venice not only met my already-high expectations — it surpassed them. I was floored with just how wonderful, old, beautiful, romantic, and incredible this city actually is. The most recent time I went to Venice was with my husband in 2015 for our extended honeymoon. We actually went twice that summer — once just us and once with my sister-in-law and mother-in-law. 😱 Flying With a Toddler ✈️

Here are my best tips for flying with a 12-18 month old: Let them run around before. This really helped my son get the "wiggles" out before we boarded. We let him run around at the gate and explore (as long as he wasn't bothering anyone) and he loved looking out the windows. We also tried to board as late as we could so he'd have less time sitting on the plane. Have 30-minute shifts (if you're with a partner). If I had to boil it down to one big thing, this would be it. Splitting the flight into 30 min shifts for me and my husband was a lifesaver! Not to say you can't help each other during your "off-time," but it definitely helps to have one of you "in charge" at one time. And it is really nice (and necessary) to get a break. Doing the 30-min shifts made it so much easier for all of us. Have food and snacks that take a long time to eat. We fed my son things like Cheerios (one at a time!) and that was fun for him and also killed time.

Best of Italy: Florence

Florence is seriously one of my favorite places in Italy. It is gorgeous and the art there is astounding. I've been to Florence quite a bit. When I lived with an Italian host family in Pisa, Florence was less than an hour train ride away, and cheap to get to also. So I went fairly often. I ended up spending my next summer with the same host family and one of my BFFs came along with me (to another family who lived close by) so we went to Florence together too. My husband, parents, brother, and I also went in the summer of 2015 which was really fun. This is me on my very first trip to Florence when I was 19 in the spring of 2010. This is me and my husband and kids (one is napping off-camera) in the fall of 2022. The most recent time I went was with my husband and 3.5 kids in September of 2022. Best of Italy: Rome

From its significant role in history to its beautiful arts, Rome is breathtaking. I think everyone should go at least once! There is so much to see and it's a really fun mix of old and new. I've been to Rome tons of times. The first time I saw the Eternal City was when I was 19, alone and living with an Italian family .
